We’re so excited to be kicking off our ‘at home’ series with Tori Boughey, our dear friend and holistic health & life coach. Tori is the founder of the TBalance method, encouraging people to become the best version of themselves. A true burst of light and joy, Tori has helped keep us positive and grounded throughout this madness, via both her Instagram and podcast series.
CC: Hello Tori! Firstly we’d love to know where you are, who you’re with, and how you’re doing!
TB: I’m in London, in my 1 bed garden flat with my fiancé, and I’m doing well thanks! I’ve actually really loved this time, bringing it back to basics, getting good sleep, having lots of baths, cooking more and beading my bracelets. However I am now beginning to feel restless. I grew up in the countryside and have an innate love of nature, so am craving the open fields and am desperate to get out of London!
CC: How are you keeping calm and motivated?
TB: I’ve been doing lots of walking - every morning I go for a walk or a bike ride. There are days when I bounce out of bed and it’s effortless and then others where it’s trickier, but I HAVE to do it, because if I don’t I can find my mind spiralling. Nature soothes me so much.
I’m also loving pulling a daily ‘Inner Compass’ guidance card, they’re incredible and give snippets of fantastic advice and wisdom! I keep calm with my rituals, really taking time for my morning and evening skincare routines, which have both been in full force of late!
CC: What do you miss most about ‘normal’ life?
TB: The freedom. I will never take the simple act of moving around freely for granted ever again!
CC: What advice would you give to anyone struggling or feeling overwhelmed?
TB: The feeling of being ‘overwhelmed’ really does look different for everyone. One of my favourite tasks that I’ve been working through with my clients is to take the worry/anxiety/thought pattern they’re feeling, reframe it to how they’d rather feel, then figure out how we’re going to get them there. I couldn’t recommend it more.
But as a daily exercise, breathe (deeply and into your diaphragm, for 10 mins every morning). Everything is going to be ok, it’s going to look different and there will be fear and chaos along the way, but we are going to figure out.
CC: Have you picked up any new habits or hobbies during lockdown?
TB: To be honest I have spent most of my waking hours beading the crystal bracelets that I sell as a side part of my coaching practice! They have been so popular during this time as they are the most uplifting gift to send to a friend or to keep for yourself! Aside from of course mastering the perfect banana bread (!) I am loving bike rides and exploring new pockets of London.
CC: What’s getting you out of bed in the morning?
TB: The sunshine! And breakfast, I don’t know why but I’ve been SO hungry in the mornings recently. My favourite breakfast has actually become my usual 4pm smoothie which consists of 1 frozen banana, 1/2 normal banana, 1 tsp cacao & 1tsp almond butter with filtered water. Honestly, UNREAL!
CC: What have you been watching, reading and listening to?
I’ve been obsessed with Saturn Returns with Caggie - she speaks to amazing guests and has such insightful and inspiring conversations.
Lawali Life - Alice is an amazing energy & stress coach, her podcast is all about stress & loss and my word some of the conversations she has are deep. They are also filled with loads of amazing takeaways — couldn’t recommend more.

Series: This is Us - it’s on Amazon, 4 seasons where this family will become your best pals. Perhaps this is why the first month of lockdown went so fast (!). Ozark - incredible. After Life - I love Ricky Gervais!
CC: It’s going to be a huge adjustment for us all coming to terms with social distancing, and what this means for our day to day lives. Do you think it’s going to have a big impact on our mental health? What can we do to ease this?
TB: I think it’s going to have a huge impact on our mental health, if it hasn’t already. It’s totally unnatural for humans to experience the level of isolation that we’ve all been experiencing, even if you haven’t been on your own. Be sure to keep calling those who are solo, keep hugging those you are with and ingest as much positive content as possible. And please please please spend as much time in nature as possible, even if you’re in the city like me - get to the parks, lie on the grass, hug a tree and fill your homes with plants.
